Dinner is Served

After we arrived at the hostel and put out bags in our rooms, we quickly dried off from the rain and headed back down to the lobby to go to dinner. Our group headed out to dinner at a local restaurant where we were seated in a cute private room with a few tables. The walls were covered in hanging colored strands and vibrant decorations. We were seated and began receiving the multi-course Greek meal. First, we were brought baskets of warm, toasted bread and then a salad, that didn’t have lettuce. The salad had tomatoes, feta cheese, onions, and cucumbers, and it was pretty tasty. After the salad the waiters brought fried zucchini and lots of different traditional Greek dips. We also chowed down on a plate of meat that included lamb, pork, and meatballs that tasted a bit sweeter than normal meatballs. After dinner we did a quick orientation, instructed by our tour guide Eric. We learned to never go without a buddy and talked about all the traveling we will be doing on our journey. We walked back through the rain, all tired and full, and quickly headed back to our rooms to shower and sleep. After the five other girls in my room and I showered, we all said a quick goodnight prayer and passed out in our blanket-less bed, but at least we had pillows.
