PREPARATION

Pilgrimage begins with preparation. For we pilgrims who are journeying to the Camino de Santiago in Spain, our preparation began a year ago. For the last twelve months we have set our hearts and minds to the reality that we are going. We have sold  Christmas trees, helped with Fall Festival, attended meeting together and engaged in hours of conversation anticipating this special journey to this holy
and ancient place.

Preparation is about answering hundreds of little and big questions. What will we take with us? What will we wear? What will we do if __________ ?

We have challenged ourselves to be prayerful as we put together our belongings that we will take with us. In the old days, pilgrims carried only a rucksack, stick, and broad-brimmed hat (see photo).  They only took what they were willing to carry. While we will be enjoying the luxury of not having to carry all of our belongings, we are thinking a lot about other things we will carry. Who will we pray for? What will be our intention for the week? What prayers will we be offering as we take the thousands of steps that will carry us towards Santiago?
