Emma Hare-Appreciating the Landscape

Today we went on a hike through a valley. The weather was really nice. We started off wearing rain jackets, rain pants, and holding umbrellas, but soon after our hike began, the rain stopped and we shed all our layers.

Once the sun came out, the sun felt warm and there was a pleasant wind that kept us cool. The path we walked on was rocky and muddy, so for most of the hike we were looking at our feet so we wouldn't trip or fall down. Every once in a while, we would stop, look up, and realize how beautiful our surroundings were. We took some breaks so we could appreciate the landscape. My favorite parts of today's hike were when we would come out of a covered forest area into an open valley surrounded by green mountains and small streams.
The hike was not as steep or strenuous as yesterday's trek up the side of a mountain, but it was much more fun than we expected and still had amazing views to offer. I'm excited to see what the rest of the trip will bring.
